The weather is warming up and as it almost always does, it allows our local H.S. Athletes to warm up and start hitting their true potential         .

We certainly saw that in the past week as our KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the week recorded personal bests and took the top prize at big meets in Columbia Falls and Missoula.

Conrad Jr. Breauna Erickson jumped right into her post season form from a year ago when she won the State B Championship in the Pole Vault.  Erickson cleared 11-feet in Columbia Falls and equaled the jump that she won with at the State last year.

Breauna also won the Long Jump and The Triple jump at Columbia Falls, which were events that she qualified in at State last year but did not win.   With an 11-foot Vault this early in the season you have to believe that Breauna at least has her eyes on an 11’ 3” which is the State record set back in 2013 by Carter Theade of Red Lodge.

Our Male Athlete of the Week, you might say came out of nowhere to make his best throw of the year and win the Javelin at the Seely Swan Invitational in Missoula.   Shelby Jr. Kyle McDermott tossed the spear 147’7” and took 1st place at a meet with approximately 30 teams participating.

Shelby Coach Brennan Hays said Kyle broke his personal best by 8or 9’ and put him in with the top ten throws in the State.

Kyle also finished in a tie for 6th in the Pole Vault and competed in the High Jump and Triple Jump.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athlete” of the Week, Jr. Breauna Erickson of Conrad and Jr. Kyle McDermott of Shelby.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank, McDonald’s honors our Athlete’s with two free value meals each.
