LOCAL SPORTS -- "KSEN ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
(UNDATED) -- Our KSEN/K96 --Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week were over the top in their game-winning performance this past week.
Our female Athlete of the Week started the week off with 33 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals, which could have been enough to get the winning nomination, but as N. Toole County H.S. Head Coach Tyler Tharp put it, "Sr. Claire Bucklin always gives us 100-percent but this weekend she may have had even a little more."
On Saturday, Claire had 38 points in a matchup with Class B Choteau with the game tied and less than a second on the clock.
Not only did that shot give the Refiners the victory, it gave Bucklin her 41st point, a personal best and a school record.  She also added 8 rebounds, 4-steals and 2 assists in that game and Coach Tharp was quick to point out that she also "plays a key role in our defensive set."
We also had nominations for Cut Bank Wrestler Haylee Fetters who won the Championship at the Cut Bank Invitational and was named the Girls Outstanding Wrestler.  Cami Blevins of Shelby was also nominated with 41 points in two games last week, including 19-21 from the free throw line and 26 rebounds.
Our Male Athlete of the Week was described by Shelby Head Coach Mike White as a Coyote staple who is one of the best defensive players in the State, but of course he has a lot of offensive firepower as well.  In the win over Conrad, Richman recorded a Triple-Double with 13 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists.  Randon had 12 points the previous night against Rocky Boy and as the Coyotes point guard, Coach White says, "He does all things that a true floor general should."
We also had a nomination for CJI's Karson Pulst who had 26 points with 6-3-pointers against a very tough Box Elder team.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96-Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Sr. Claire Bucklin of Sunburst and Sr. Randon Richman of Shelby.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our Athlete's with two free value meals each.
