Already nominated twice out of the four games his team has played, our KSEN/K96-Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week is piling up some big numbers in a short time.

Valier Sr. Wes Edwards, a starting Running back and Nose Tackle was key in the Panthers runaway win over Great Falls Central.  He carried the ball 9 times for 229 yards and crossed the goal line 3 times.  Edwards caught one pass for 10 yards and scored a 4th Touchdown on a fumble recovery.  All of this came in just the 1st half as the Panthers built such a lead that many of the starters didn’t play a lot in the 2nd half.

Edwards also played a key role in Valier’s “very competitive” win over Northstar a week earlier and he was recognized this week not only by us, but also the Montana Indian Athletic Hall of Fame.

Our female Athlete of the Week is Sr. Hailey May , a captain on the Power/Dutton/Brady Volleyball team who, as described by her coaches had a stellar week of Volleyball last week when she was nominated, but we agreed, stellar enough that she wins the nomination this week.

Hailey did lead the team in kills in a 3-0 win over Sunburst with 7.    In two matches a week ago she totaled 8 blocks in wins over G.F. Central and Valier.  Head Coach Darci May says she has become a dominate presence at the net, but not only does she lead the team in blocking but is also one of the best hitters and setters with 12 kills and 14 assists in the two matches.   7 aces as well.

Her coaches say Hailey is a great leader on and off the court and a hard worker in games and practice.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Sr. Wes Edwards of Valier and Sr. Hailey May of Power.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our Athlete’s with two free value meals each.

We encourage Coaches, fans, parents and fellow athlete’s to nominate players when you believe they have had an outstanding week or individual performance.  E-mail  markdaniels@townsquaremedia.com
