The nominators of our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athlete’s of the Week were far more expressive than normal when telling us about the accomplishments.

Female Athlete of the Week honors go to Shelby Sr. Jori Clary who was coming off an injury suffered in the Choteau match a week earlier.   The word was, “she really turned it up a notch,” in a critical conference matchup with Conrad, which pretty much secured 2nd place in the 1B District standings.

In that grueling 4-set match Clary knocked down 14 of the teams’ 29 kills and the Coyotes went on to win the final two sets by a combine 5 points.  Playing in a match against AA Great Falls High’s JV team, she again led the way with 15 kills, 1 block and 10 digs.  Jori also put all 17 of her serves in play for a perfect 100%.

We also had an impressive nomination Shelby Coyote Adele Lamb who also served 100% against Choteau and Conrad and was among the top 3 in Kills in both contests.

Our Male Athlete of the Week was a huge factor in Valier’s win over Power/Dutton/Brady.  The victory giving the Panthers a guaranteed home game in the 1st Round of the Playoffs.  Where do we start with Sr. Rylee Gabbard, who Coach Shane Broesder says, “harassed the Titans QB the entire game which included a batted pass that led to the Panthers 1st Touchdown.”  Gabbard also scored the Panthers decisive 4th Qtr Touchdown on a 65 yard reception.

And in the final moments Gabbard’s pursuit flushed the Titans QB out of the pocket and even after the throw continued to chase the play from the backside and laid out to pull in the pass that was deflected right at the goal line.  Valier was able to run out the clock and secure the win.  In all 3 deflections, 2 sacks, 5 solo tackles and untold QB hurries.

We also had a deserving nomination for Browning So. Tahj Wells who had 216 yards with runs of 79 and 80 yards against 5th ranked Columbia Falls.  Tahj is also the defending Champion In the “Indian National Finals Jr. rodeo and ranked #1 heading into this year’s event.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96—Bozeman Trophy Athlete’s of the Week, Sr. Jori Clary of the Shelby Coyotes and Sr. Rylee Gabbard of the Valier Panthers.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank.  McDonald’s honors our Athlete’s with two free value meals each.
