Our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Male Athlete of the Week is providing outstanding leadership for his team, and our Female Athlete has just hit the 8th grade.
Male Athlete of the Week honors go to CJI Sr. Cooper Streit, who turned in a dominating performance in the Hawks lopsided win over previously undefeated Highwood last weekend. Streit, described by Head Coach Jim Vinson as "a great leader, who showed total focus in preparation for the Highwood game." On the stat page, Streit had 7 solo tackles, and an interception return for a Touchdown.  He totaled up 90 yards in returns on special teams and had 6 carries for 76 yards and 3 Touchdowns on offense. It's notable, that due to the lopsided score, all the numbers came about as he played in only half the game.  CJI is now 2-1 and one of the top-rated teams in the State in 6-man Football.
We also had a strong nomination for Power/Dutton/Brady So. James Gilbert who had 154 yards receiving yards and 3 Touchdown catches.  He ran once for 44 yards and a Touchdown and 8 solo tackles on the defensive side.
Our Female Athlete of the Week is following in the family footsteps.  8th grader, Colette "Coco" Bucklin finished 3rd at the major X-country meet held at Marias Valley on Monday night with a personal best time of 20:16. That time is the best time in Class C in the state right now.  She also broke the Sunburst school record with that time on Monday.  Coco was 6th overall in the race at E. Glacier last weekend, competing against a lot of Class A runners and she was again 1st among all Class C girls.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 -- Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Sr. Cooper Streit of the CJI Hawks and 8th grader Colette Bucklin of Sunburst. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our athlete's with two free value meals each.
