KSEN/K96 Athletes of the Week
Our KSEN/K96-- Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week have been solid contributors to their team's success as the team's jump full force into conference play.
Coach Nate Aschim's Sunburst Refiners are off to a 2-0 start in the 10C District with a win last week over Valier and over Power/Dutton/Brady right before the Christmas break. A big part of the success is So. Center/Forward, Ethan Samsal. In the two games before Christmas, Aschim says Ethan really dominated both ends of the floor. It was more of the same in their win over Valier Friday night. Ethan had 12 rebounds and 14-points against the Panthers, and he is now averaging 12.2 rebounds per game, thru 6 games. He also scored 15 against P/D/B and 17 in a loss to St. Patrick's. Ethan has good size to play tough around the basket and Aschim says if you watch closely, he gets off the ground quickly and has more vertical leap than you might think.
Our Female Athlete of the Week has been a solid contributor to the Shelby Coyotes both offensive and defensively. Jr. Forward Hadley Clary, put together a big double-double in the Coyotes win over Rocky Boy last Thursday with 20-points and 13 rebounds. She also added 4 steals. In another win over Cascade Saturday, she had 10 points, and Shelby ran their record to 4-1 and 2-0 in conference play. Hadley is just 5'7" but plays strong inside and gives Shelby a rebounding force that is desperately on a team that isn't very big.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, So. Ethan Samsal of Sunburst and Jr. Hadley Clary of Shelby. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our Athlete's with two free value meals each.
