KSEN/K96 Athlete of the Week
Our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week did his thing as always in the standard parts of the game, but he also excelled when he was called on for special duty due to a teammate's injuries.
Fairfield junior Brodie Carper, in a Fairfield win over Wolf Point had a 61-yard Touchdown reception, a 71-yard punt return for a TD, and a separate punt return of 46 yards. Those are all admirable accomplishments but the icing on the cake was Carper's numbers in the kicking game where he was filling in for an injured Saber Allen.
Fairfield Head Coach Aaron Barnett said he did an amazing job with 4 punts for a 43-yard average and a single punt of 47 yards. He had 2 kickoffs inside the 20-yard line and one all the way down to the 5-yard line. With extra points, 2-4. Coach Barnett said he also played very good pass defense throughout the game and had one "TD saving tackle"
We also had a very qualified nomination for CJI sophomore Levi Nelson in a runaway win for the Hawks over North Star. Nelson has become a real big play threat for the Hawks, and he certainly did it in this game with 121-yards rushing and 3 Touchdown's. He had one 70-yard kick return for a TD. Levi also returned 4 punts for 116 yards and 2 more Touchdown's. 5 solo tackles on defense and Head Coach Jim Vinson says, "Nelson is putting together an amazing year with another amazing game."
