Four different H.S Football players made our first choice for the KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week a difficult one. All four of these athlete's turned in big time performances, but the chosen one seemed to get it done in a very tight and pressure filled contest.
The Nod goes to Cut Bank Sr Thane Vaile, who Head Coach Paul Schilling said was really the driving force behind Cut Bank's opening game win over Thompson Falls 14-12. Starting on defense, Vaile had 6 of the team's 8 sacks and he assisted on 8 more tackles.   On offense, Vaile had 2 Touchdown receptions and ran for an extra point.  Coach Schilling noted that Cut Bank is a very young team, with 4 to 5 Sophomores in their starting lineup.  Vaile took on a leadership role and Cut Bank came away with the road win.
The three other nominees included Power/Dutton/Brady's Tanner Vick who had 13 tackles, caused one fumble, had 170-yards rushing and two Touchdowns in The Titans 42-20 win over North Star.   CJI QB Ryland St. John got off to a great start with over 300-yards rushing and 5 Touchdowns.  Defensively 6 solo tackles, 3 of them for a loss. And last but not least, Ledger Martin of Conrad, who was back playing football for the 1st time since 8th grade and had 1 TD and an amazing overall game in Conrad's 26-6 win over Shepherd.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 -- Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week, Sr. Thane Vaile of Cut Bank.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank.  McDonald's honors our athlete with two free value meals.
