As a person born "back in the 1900's" and of the GenX generation, I cannot even describe how thankful I am that it wasn't the digital age.  Especially once I hit the magical drinking age in the state.

And without being too self-incriminating about some of my past whilst tipping a few (or more) back, I don't ever remember a time where I thought driving to the police station while being inebriated was a good idea.  Ever.

Montana Man Should Be Nominated for Dumb Criminal Activity

If there is a Criminals Dumber Than Society for 2026, one Montana man is probably going to be near the top of the list after a quick trip to pay a fine turned into a sobriety test and an arrest for driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol.

The unidentified man arrived at the Granite County Courthouse to pay an open container fine from weeks prior and make a complaint.  However, when asked if he needed help, an officer noticed that the male appeared to be intoxicated.

And that's when things went south.

Driver at 3x Over the Legal Limit; Charged with DUI and Open Container

The man was asked to step outside, where the officer asked if he had driven to the courthouse.  The man replied yes and added he had "smoked two bowls" of marijuana.  An investigation was then begun by the Undersheriff where "the male agreed to a preliminary breath test, which showed a result three times the legal limit. It was also discovered that he had an open container in his vehicle".

The male was then charged with aggravated driving under the influence and to add a little cherry on top, another open container ticket.  The very same infraction he was there originally pay!  The sheriff's office added, say that:

If you live in one of our county towns, please walk if you are able; in all of our towns, you can walk across in 15-20 mins. Stupidity is not an excuse!
