KSEN Athlete of the Week
Our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week stepped it up a notch for tournament play and the playoffs in Football.
Male Athlete of the Week honors, for the 1st time go to Choteau Jr. QB Cole Wood. In Choteau's 1st round playoff game on the road, Seeley Swan scored on their first three possessions, but fortunately Wood and the Bulldog offense was ready for the match. They also scored on their 1st two possessions and the defense shored things up thru the final 3 quarters and went on to win 41-28. Wood led the attack with, maybe his best passing and running game of the season. He hit Nathan Gunderson for a 15-yard Td late in the 1st to put the game within 1 pt. and then a 34-yard strike to Kellen Meyer to put the Bulldogs ahead for the first time and for the rest of the time in the 3rd quarter. Another 15-yard toss to TE Dax Yeager and a 3yd round which he scored on, and the game was sealed. On the day Wood was 14-21 for 200 yards and 3 TD's. He rushed 7 times for 23 yards and 1 TD. Wood had 3 tackles and a fumble recovery on defense and was really good punting and according to Head Coach Scott Hadlock, "flipping the field." Choteau won their 1st playoff game since switching to 8-man football in 2017, according to the Choteau Acantha. We also had a nomination for CJI QB Ryland St. John, 4 TD passes and 2 rushing TD's in the Hawks rout over Jordan. He also had a 48-yard punt that pinned Jordan inside their 1 yd line.
Our Female Athlete of the Week, according to Coach Lexy Fisher "showed a lot of heart and grit and was a threat for the Coyotes both offensively and defensively. Despite not feeling her best over the weekend, So. Hadley Clary, in the Championship match against Fairfield led the team with Adele Lamb, in kills with 8. She added 17 digs. In previous matches led the team with 12 kills and a block against Chinook and 17 kills and 2 blocks in a win over Choteau. Shelby finished 2nd in the tournament and advanced on to the Northern Divisionals. We also had a nomination for Adele Lamb who, her nominator said, worked incredibly hard thru the tournament and among her hard-hitting kills, served 100-percent throughout the Tournament.
