KSEN/K96 -- Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week definitely turned in above -average performances this past week.
Our Male Athlete of the Week has been very good all season, but he turned in an elite performance in Friday nights' triple overtime shootout with Choteau. And there was still more to come as senior Tyler Hanson finished the night with 26 points, including 10-14 from the free throw line.  And, Oh Yeah, he also pulled down 16 rebounds. Shelby Head Coach Mike White described Hanson as "very crafty," around the basket and we see that in rebounding and shooting, such as the left-handed adjustment that we described in our play-by-play.  Coach White also said, Tyler is one of the few, "old school big men in our league." Hanson has been consistent all season and he came back with 18 points and 10 rebounds Saturday against Chinook.
Our Female Athlete of the Week can also be described as one-of-a-kind in many ways.  This past week, junior forward Natalie Harrell of Fairfield was utilized more than normal in the post position and responded with flying colors.  Natalie scored a season high 34 points and 7 rebounds against Cut Bank and had 28-points, 5-rebounds the night before against Conrad. Fairfield Head Coach Travis Schenk says is a lanky, athletic player who attacks the glass hard when she is inside and he described her as being "like a Swiss army knife," with the tools for any job. Players like Natalie Harrell have led Fairfield to a 12-1 overall record and an undefeated record in Conference play. We also had quality nominations this week for CJI So. Brie Mattson, who had 15 points, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds in the Hawks win over Turner.  Coach Jordan Miller said, "she's a workhorse, who plays full go, 32 minutes of every game. Also, nominations for Shelby's Elly McDermott and Hadley Clary, both instrumental in Shelby's win over Choteau Friday and Cascade on Monday.
