KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week both come from Browning this week where the Boys team made it to the Western A Championship game and the girls team finished their season strong.
Male Athlete of the Week honors go to 6'8" Jr. Shayde St. Goddard.  St. Goddard's regular season was a little on and off, partly due to illness.  But Browning Coach DJ Fish says by the end of the season he worked his way back into the starting lineup and at the Divisional he really stepped it up, especially on defense and "did his job very well. The accolades came mainly on defense where St. Goddard came up with 6 blocks against the hi-powered Frenchtown Broncs.  He is currently 2nd in the State A with blocked shots, so it wasn't a total surprise, but still rare to see 6 in one game. Frenchtown's leading scorer and tops in the state A, Hank Smith averages more than 22-points a game but St. Goddard was partly responsible for holding him to just 15.  Coach Fish also noted that Shayde doesn't typically score in double figures, but he did in this game with 10 and highlighted that with a "monster dunk" In the Championship game, Fish says he was again "very good," despite the loss and he again contributed to holding Dillon's top scorers to below average.
Our Female Athlete of the Week, Browning Sr. Shaylee Heavy Runner, a Sr. led the Lady Indians in scoring with 12 in the win over Hamilton and 14 in the loss against Frenchtown. Heavy Runner, the shortest player on the Browning team, was a constant threat on both ends of the court, according to a report in the Glacier Reporter and barely ever came out of the game.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Jr. Shayde St. Goddard of Browning and Sr. Shaylee Heavy Runner of Browning.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's. McDonald's honors our Athlete's with two free value meals each.
