OUR KSEN/ K96--BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETE'S OF THE WEEK, FINALLY GOT TO COMPETE LAST WEEKEND, AFTER TWO WEEKS IN A ROW WITH BAD WEATHER. ONCE THEY DID MAKE IT OUTSIDE THE GLOVES CAME OFF.
Our Female Athlete of the Week is just a sophomore and not only raced to a 2nd place in all three of the sprint events at the Major Cal Wearley meet in Havre.  Regan Torgerson not only finished big in all three events, but she also pre-qualified for the State Track and Field meet in both the 100m with a time 12.71, and the 200m with a time of 26.22. In that 200m, she was only a tenth of a second off the win and her time was the best-in-Class B Girls Track this season. We're also told it was only a second away from a school record in Shelby.   Regan also finished 2nd in the 400m with a time of 1:02.17. The effort led the Shelby girls to a 5th place team finish out of 34 teams at the meet in Havre. We also had a nomination this week for CJI 8th grader Audrey Young who went 5'2" in the High Jump in her first Varsity meet in Havre and finished 2nd.
Our Male Athlete of the Week was just a single event winner, but it was a big one.  Sr. Max Gannon of Cut Bank cleared 13-feet in the Pole Vault at the Cal Wearley meet.  This was a big accomplishment as Boys Track Coach Jared Berkram said, "we haven't had a 13-foot jump in Cut Bank in 18 years and it's only one-foot away from the school record of 14', set back in 2001 by Tony Russo. Gannon finished in the top 10 at the State Meet a year ago, but the current vault would have put him in 2nd place in that State meet last year.   Coach Berkram also told us that Max has "worked his tail off to get to where he's at and he can still get better, but he is very deserving of the recognition."
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Shelby So. Regan Torgerson and Cut Bank Sr. Max Gannon.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our athlete's with two free value meals each.
