Red Cross Opens Shelter in Browning

U.S. Hwy 2 remains closed overnight due to the Sheep Fire near Essex, which has burned within a mile of U.S.2.  West-bound vehicles are being turned back at Bear Creek.

The American Red Cross has established a shelter for stranded travelers at the Browning Middle School, 901 S Piegan St.

Travelers in passenger vehicles have the option of driving west over Going-to-the-Sun Road. From Browning, go north on U.s.89 to St. Mary's and enter Glacier National Park there.

Commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles may also go south to Vaughn, just north of Great Falls, via U.S.89 or I-15, then west on MT-200.
