The Montana State Library has announced the winners of its 2024 Montana History Portal Meme Contest. Participants were invited to choose a photo from the State Library's online collection of historic photographs and come up with a clever caption. Finalists were chosen by museum staff and posted online for a public vote to determine the winners. MSL's Montana Meme contest drew 243 entries this year and nearly 1,000 votes were cast. Prizes will be sent out to winners in the next couple of weeks.

Early Montana Trading Posts, Dry Goods Stores, and MercantilesThe Library's History Portal has recently posted a new digital exhibit from its 2024 Teacher Workshop, about stores and the sale of goods in early Montana. This exhibit was authored by Kimberly Beebe, a veteran of our 2022 Teacher Workshop where she created the exhibit Early Schools in Montana.
