A former KSEN Athlete of the Week himself, has agreed to be the featured speaker at this year's KSEN Athlete of the Year Banquet, Monday May 18th at the Coyote Club in Shelby.

Casey Fitzsimmons, arguably one of the most successful athletes to ever come out of Northcentral Montana says he's looking forward to engaging with the Athlete's and fans here in the Golden Triangle.

Following a stellar H.S. career in Chester, Casey went on to become an NAIA 1st Team All-America and Frontier Conference MVP after the Carroll College Fighting Saints won the NAIA National Championship in 2002.  He ended his career at Carroll with 244 receptions as the Saints Tight End.   He accounted for 2,698 yards and 21 Touchdowns.

Undrafted after graduation, Fitzsimmons caught the eye of the Detroit Lions and signed with the NFL Team in 2003.   He spent all 6 of his professional years with the Lions playing in 87 games, 24 as a starter.  In a solid NFL career, he retired in 2010 with 70 rececptions, 549 yards and 5 Touchdowns.   His most notable TD was a kickoff return for a TD that sealed a Lions' victory over the Chicago Bears in 2007.

Casey is a native of Wolf Point but attended all 4 years of his H.S. career in Chester.  He was a KSEN Athlete of the Week after averaging nearly 20-points a game in the 1999 State Basketball Tournament.   He led Chester to a State Football Championship over Power in 1998 and to the State Championship game in the State C Basketball Tournament in 1999.

We are extremely excited that Casey has agreed to come and speak at our Athlete of the year Banquet....Monday night May 18th in Shelby.
