Today, Major League Baseball celebrates the anniversary of Wrigley Field, which has been a fixture in the north side of Chicago for 100 years.

The ballpark was built in 1914 and originally named Weeghman Park. From 1920 to 1926, the name changed to Cubs Park before settling on Wrigley Field.

There have been so many historic moments inside the friendly confines so narrowing down five moments is practically impossible. This list can even come close to capturing the memories at Wrigley, but we picked out five that will always be synonymous with the ballpark.

5. Harry Caray During the 7th Inning Stretch (throughout the 80s and 90s)

The legendary broadcaster became a household name across the country when he joined the Chicago Cubs in 1981. Working on one of the only television superstations in the country, Caray became famous for his coke bottle glasses and his singing of 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame' in the middle of the seventh inning each game.

4.  Ernie Banks Hits 500th Homer Run (May 12, 1970)

Before the steroid era moved through Major League Baseball, hitting 500 career home runs was one of the greatest feats in the game. When 'Mr. Cub' hit his 500th homer at Wrigley Field, he was just the 9th player in history to reach the milestone.

3. Wrigley Field Hosts First Cubs Night Game (August 8, 1988)

After 74 years, Wrigley Field finally installed lights at the popular ballpark. Although the game against the Phillies was rained out in the 4th inning, the night will always be remembered by Cubs fans.

2. Kerry Wood Strikes Out 20 Astros (May 6,1998)

Pitching phenom Kerry Wood was only 21-years-old when he tied a Major League record with 20 strikeouts in a nine-inning game. It was just the fifth career start for the Cubs and he would go on to win the Rookie of the Year award.

1. Steve Bartman (October 14, 2003)

You could sense that all of the optimism, excitement, and anticipation had been sucked right out of Wrigley Field in that one moment. Chicago lost the 3-0 they had that night along with the next two games of the series to be eliminated from the playoffs.
