(BROWNING) – JUST 4 DAYS AGO  IT SEEMED THAT TOTAL CHAOS WAS BREAKING OUT ON THE BLACKFEET RESERVATION IN BROWNING, BUT TODAY (Friday) IT’S CALM AND QUIET.

BLACKFEET TRIBAL COUNCILMAN SHANNON AUGARE SAYS HE HASN’T SEEN HIDE NOR HAIR OF THE SUSPENDED COUNCIL MEMBERS,
EMPLOYEES ARE WORKING AND TRIBAL GOVERNMENT IS PRODUCTIVE.

THE CURRENT BLACKFEET TRIBAL BUSINESS COUNCIL SUSPENDED THREE MORE COUNCIL MEMBERS ON MONDAY, BRINGING THE TOTAL SUSPENDED TO FIVE OUT OF THE 9-MEMBER COUNCIL.

AUGARE SAYS THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL IS CURRENTLY IN CHARGE OF DAY TO DAY OPERATIONS  AND IN FACT JUST YESTERDAY APPROVED A FRANCHISING AGREEMENT AND FINANCING PLAN FOR A NEW HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS HOTEL THAT WILL BE BUILT NEXT TO THE GLACIER PEAKS CASINO.     A GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY IS SCHEDULED FOR SEPT. 10TH.
MEANWHILE, 8 ADDITIONAL OFFICERS THAT WERE BROUGHT IN ON MONDAY FROM THE FT. BELKNAP AND ROCKY BOYS RESERVATION ARE STILL THERE.

ANY COMMENTS ABOUT WHAT MIGHT BE HAPPENING OR NOT HAPPENING ARE WELCOME.
