A slew of big time rock ‘n’ rollers and other high-profile fans have sent in video testimonials to mark Metallica‘s 30th anniversary, which the band celebrated last week with a four-night stand of concerts at the Fillmore Theater in their hometown of San Francisco. Aerosmith, Slash, Jimmy Page, Sammy Hagar, Queen‘s Brian May and Rush are among the artists and bands sending their best wishes in video clips posted on Metallica’s official website.

“Being in a band is like being in a mousetrap: everybody wants to get in, everybody wants to get out,” jokes singer Steven Tyler in a video post from Aerosmith. “In this case, nobody gets out alive, including you guys.”

“Good work, 30 years man,” adds guitarist Joe Perry. “Congratulations, we’ve got something to look forward to.”

“Hey Metallica, Slash here,” says the guitar god in his own video clip. “I just wanted to tell you guys congratulations on 30 years, you guys have been my favorite heavy metal band ever since 1986 when I saw you opening for Ozzy Osbourne and playing “For Whom the Bell Tolls.’ You guys kick ass and you deserve it, more power to you. Cheers!”

More congratulations came in from Motorhead‘s Lemmy Kilmister, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and others. Modern-rockers Green Day turned in a cover of the Misfits’ ‘Hybrid Moments’ in their video, ending the tune with singer Billie Joe Armstrong singing a simple “Thirty years of Metallica!”
