MISSOULA – Participants of the 17th Annual Super Grizzly Dip will plunge into an icy pool of water in the name of charity at the University of Montana Oval on Saturday, Feb. 27.

Registration check-in begins at 10:30 a.m. on the Oval. The preplunge party begins at 11:30 a.m., and the plunges start at noon.
The event, which is open to the public, offers a chance to raise funds to benefit local Special Olympics athletes, many of whom will participate in the plunge. Those who choose not to plunge still can participate by registering as a “chicken.” They still raise pledges and receive incentives like a regular plunger, without getting wet.
Participants are encouraged to collect tax-deductible pledges from friends and family. There is a $100 donation minimum per plunger or “chicken.” UM students with a valid Griz Card can plunge for $50. Checks should be made to Special Olympics. To register or for more information, click HERE .
The Super Grizzly Dip primarily is organized, promoted and conducted by law enforcement through their affiliation with Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics Montana. Neptune Aviation Services and NorthStar Jet are the premier sponsors for the event. Year-round sponsors include the Montana Police Protective Association as the Premier Law Enforcement Sponsor and Town Pump as the Premium Mission Sponsor. Their partnership has ensured the success of the plunge for many years.
More than 2,000 athletes from 65 Montana communities participate in local, area and state sports competitions that train athletes for life and build communities of acceptance, respect and inclusion. As a volunteer-driven movement, nearly 4,000 Montanans help organize and host local-, area- and state-level competitions and other year-round program services. Five Valleys Area Special Olympics takes a particular interest in providing opportunities to these athletes on a local level.
As a charitable nonprofit organization, Special Olympics Montana is funded primarily through the generosity of individuals, organizations and businesses across the state. Public support is essential. For more information call Truman Tolson, SOMT West Region Coordinator, at 406-552-6289.
