So, where should you spend your golden years? has created a list of the 10 best states to retire and if you think Florida is anywhere to be seen, you are more off-base than you would be in suggesting you skip the early bird special.

Tennessee took the top spot, courtesy of a cost of living that ranks second-lowest in country. It’s also home to good medical care, while also possessing good weather. The downside to the Volunteer State? It has a pretty terrible crime rate.

Bankrate create its rankings by looking into a variety of factors, including “access to medical care, cost of living, local crime rates, state and local taxes — as well as climate.”
