Where Are Montana's Most Haunted Cemeteries?

That's a pretty good question if you think about it. There are cemeteries all over the state that could easily qualify, I would think. The Livingston Enterprise has narrowed that number down to 3.

All Of This Cemetery Talk Got Me Thinking About The Farm Cemetery. It Was Scary

Growing up on "Rural Route 2 Choteau, Montana" (Which now looks to have an actual street name of "5th Lane North West", how fancy.), I spent a lot of time riding my bike up and down the dirt roads looking for adventure.

If you turned right from the farm driveway and went a little ways, you'd come on to what the grown-ups called the "Mean Man's House". (Another article for another day.)

If you turned left and rode the bike a bit then left again and rode down the gravel a bit, there was an old cemetery. I never knew it had a name until today, "Trinity Cemetery". I'd go there just me and my dog, Adam, or me and my brother and we'd look at all the old graves, some back to the 1800's. (There are newer graves in there, too).

At the time, it was so scary to me to be walking alone, or alone with my dog, on top of all of those old dead bodies. Some were even babies which made it extra scary to me.

As far as the scariest TOMB I've ever seen? That honor goes to the tomb of Marie Laveau in New Orleans. The hundreds of people who leave her gifts is scary.

Where Are The 3 Scariest Graveyards In Montana?

From the Livingston Enterprise:

#3: Bannack Cemetery, Bannack, Montana

In arguably Montana's most famous ghost town, people who visit Bannack and the Bannack Cemetery have said they hear laughter from children and can see candles in broken windows.

#2: Sunset Hills Cemetery, Bozeman, Montana

Locals say there is a lone rider crossing snow at night and disappearing before they reach the gate of the cemetery. Legend says the rider always leaves a single trail of hoofprints.

#1: Boot Hill Cemetery, Virginia City, Montana

Set above Virginia city Boot Hill is a reminder of the harshness of the wild west. Visitors to Virginia City and Boot Hill tell tales of hearing the jangle of spurs from the hill once the sun goes down.
