KSEN/K96 Athletes of the Week
Our KSEN/K96-Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week broke school records and stamped their entry into the State Track & Field meet later this spring.
For the second time in 3 weeks, our female athlete of the week is Shelby sophomore Regan Torgerson. In the words of Head Couch Brennan Hayes, Regan “had another phenomenal day” at the Seeley Swan meet in Missoula. Just getting a victory at this meet is a big accomplishment, but Regan did it in style with a wind in the 100m and 200m. The win in the 200m with a time of 25.93 broke a long-standing Shelby School record that had been in place since 1974. We were unable to get a 1st name, but the record had been held by P. Randall with a time of 26.1. Regan’s 2 wins and her participation in the Coyotes second place finish in the 1600m relay, led the team to tie for 1st place in the team standings among 30 teams.
Also nominated the week, CJI 8th grader, Brooke Streit who placed second at the Seeley Swan meet in the 800m with a personal best time of 2:29:64 and then went on to better her best effort in the triple jump by 8”.
Our male athlete also had a big day in Missoula where Conrad senior Roscoe Shaw prequalified for the State b Track Meet in his second event with a second place finish in the javelin on a throw of 158’6”. He also finished third in the shot put with a toss of 45’07”. Roscoe had already qualified for State in the shot put where he has the third best throw of 47’ in the State B ranks.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96-Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, sophomore Regan Torgerson of Shelby and senior Roscoe Shaw from Conrad. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald’s in Cut Bank. McDonald’s honors our athletes with two free value meals each.
We appreciate all of the nominations we received this week and KSEN/K96 encourages nominations from anyone who knows of an athlete with an exceptional performance. Email markdaniels@townsquaremedia.com. Don’t forget to RSVP for the Athlete of the Year banquet on May 7th.
