Browning, MT –The Blackfeet Tribal Business Council has taken action to declare a Disaster that began with the water issue on February 4, 2017 and continued with the snow storm February 5 – 7, 2017.  Preparations are being made for the upcoming Winter Weather Advisory and High Wind Warning with blizzard conditions set to set in early Thursday morning. Snow removal and plowing has been halted in order to prepare for the coming storm.  The Blackfeet Transportation Department will be handling calls for plows for Medical Emergencies.  Their phone number is (406) 338-7445.All entities including the Blackfeet Tribe, BIA, Glacier County Commissioners, Border Patrol, Blackfeet Law Enforcement, Glacier County Sherriff’s Office, Blackfeet Housing, Browning Public Schools, and Indian Health Service have met and been instructed to prepare for the storm. The forecast is calling for a Winter Weather Advisory and High Wind Warning beginning Thursday at 6:00 a.m. until Midnight on Friday (MST).  Plowed roads will once again become snow covered and may possibly become impassable.  The Incident Command Post is preparing for all conditions during this time. People are encouraged to prepare and take proper precautions including stocking up on food and water, medication, remaining indoors and off of the roads/highways during this time. We will keep the public updated on information as it develops.
