Montana Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) is fresh out of Twitter jail after his account was suspended from Twitter over a hunting photo of him and his wife and the beautiful antelope she shot in Eastern Montana.

Senator Daines' account was eventually reinstated by Twitter owner Elon Musk earlier this week, as we reported.

I got a chance to catch up with Senator Daines earlier this morning about a number of topics. But here's what I found really interesting- what Elon Musk told him in a personal phone call after the incident.

Aaron Flint: "Before we get to talk about the State of the Union address, Senator, you were telling me you actually got a phone call, personally, from Elon Musk over this whole Twitter jail story."

Senator Daines: "Well, when Twitter put me in jail, and by the way, Aaron- The food's not great, you can't beat the rent. But anyway, I'm in Twitter jail. And this thing blew up nationally, and it was it was a great ricochet. Twitter censors me and there was just this huge backlash across America around what Twitter did to Cindy, me, and that antelope. And so Elon Musk reached out to me- we had a very good conversation on the phone. And let me play some of the Elon said, to the credit ofElon Musk. First of all, he got me out of jail, he reinstated my account. Number two, he says he's going to review the Twitter policies regarding some of the craziness that is going on there. And the point that was made by Elon, if I could sum it up, is that 'we can't let San Francisco values dictate the rest of the world.' I couldn't have said it better myself. And I said to Elon, it's important that in the spirit of inclusivity and tolerance- which the San Francisco elites are the most intolerant people in the world- is why don't you tolerate and include the diversity of our Montana values? And so we just kind of threw their arguments back at them. And I gotta give Elon Musk credit for stepping in and get me out of jail and working to change Twitter. There's a deep swamp at Twitter, and Elon is trying to do his best to drain it."
