Come See What I Saw!

The Saw Clock at Marias Museum of History & Art (Anne James)

I’m a fairly faithful viewer of the Sunday morning TV series A Prairie Farm Report. I’m not a farmer, but I admire ingenuity, and the show showcases farmers who have invented gadgets, gizmos and machines to do some chore or another around the place. So, when I heard about the “saw clock” Harry Benjamin was building for the Marias Museum of History and Art, I wasn’t a bit surprised…but I was curious. Armed with a couple of saws to donate to the cause, I headed over to the museum to check it out.

Each of the eight wheels orbiting the central clock will have approximately 30 saws, each purchased and decorated by a Toole County family, business or organization. The center disk on each wheel is also sponsored by a local business. (Anne James)

The saw clock will no doubt be the center of attention at the museum’s annual open house next month!
