I'm blogging about Kareen Bratt's warm & friendly book, "My Home's In Montana" & I'll be reading more of Kareen's story of growing up on a wheat ranch in the Fort Benton area tonight (Tuesday) up at the Marias Heritage Center. I am being completely candid when I say that THIS book is one of the best I've ever read at our "Montana History" reading Tuesday evenings at the Heritage. We're about half way through & Kareen's story certainly resonates with anyone born here in Montana, especially during the 1940-1950 era. It's one of the most descriptive narratives yet, especially the parts about branding time at the ol' cattle ranch. I can actually smell the burning hides. Either that or Judy burned something in the kitchen! See you this evening at 6 for more "Montana History" where we can actually feel the chill of an early morning run to the outhouse. Either that or Judy has the thermostat set real low in the sun room!
