Bruce Springsteen at His ‘Angriest’ on Upcoming Album

Bruce Springsteen has always put his thoughts and concerns about current events front and center in his lyrics and according to insider reports, his forthcoming album will find him speaking rather loudly on a number of subjects.

A source told The Hollywood Reporter that Bruce feels like “it’s the angriest album he’s ever made,” one that tackles the subject of “economic justice quite a bit” within the songs.

The tone of the new album isn’t a product of the Occupy Wall Street movement, however. According to the unnamed source, Springsteen “wrote and recorded the majority of the album before the Occupy movements started, so he’s not just setting headlines to music.”

The album’s vibe has been declared as “very rock and roll,” and it also sounds like it will be a very diverse collection of music from Springsteen.  The album was played for label executives recently and has been described as having “unexpected textures — loops, electronic percussion… an amazing sweep of influences and rhythms, from hip-hop to Irish folk rhythms.”

We still don’t know the title for the new album or when it will be released, but one insider termed the new album “terrific.” Springsteen himself described the album to Bob Seger as being “really unusual,” calling it “the best thing he’s done in years.”
