A Wonderful Summer

That's the title of a Robin Ward tune from the early 60's and it rings really true as we race through August and into September. I can't believe that our 4 county fair has come and gone as well as Whoop Up Days, 4th of July weekend in Choteau, Grizzly Day, and Dutton Fun Day not to mention all the other fun activities this summer

A Wondeful Fair

What a wonderful fair it was this year here at our Shelby fairgrounds. It was year number 70 and I thought this year's 4 county Marias Fair was the best ever. And having Charlie Jenkins for the Saturday night grandstand show, coupled with no gate admission made this year's fair even more special

The 9th annual Bluegrass on the Bay kicks off Friday night at Odd Fellows Park in Great Falls. I'm not an odd fellow(!)...but, I'd sure like to be there.

My old friend Dave Wilson is stopping by the Puffman Show Thursday afternoon at 4:35 to tell us about this year's event which, of course, benefits The History Museum in the Electric City.

FAITH AND FREEDOM

From a childhood along the back roads of Texas, to Music City and on to the stages of Broadway, meet Gary Morris. Gary will be my special guest this afternoon (the Fourth of July). I'll be debuting the title cut and new single, "Faith and Freedom" from his latest CD. Gary is dedicating this very song and arrangement to the US Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard as  a July 4th Thank You to our military. The man has an amazing voice and is probably best known for his signature rendition of the classic "Wind Beneath My Wings" in addition to his starring role in Broadway's "Les Miserables". I know you'll enjoy the CD and I'm looking forward to meeting Gary this Fourth of July Monday afternoon. And by the way, happy 4th! Check out one of his Videos after the jump:

SHE WAS A JEWEL

North central Montana was saddened this week when we learned that Betty "Jewel" Wolk passed away at the age of 86 last Saturday in Great Falls. I don't think any of us can hear about the yearly Montana Storytellers Roundup this weekend in Cut Bank without thinking about Jewel.

WEEKEND UPDATE FROM THE PUFFMAN

I'm happy to say that our 29th annual KSEN/K 96 Radio Auction was a solid success. The phones rang constantly Thursday and Friday from 9 in the morning until after 5 in the evening. It was fun having the opportunity to offer our listeners in north central Montana some really nice merchandise and services, all at considerable savings. It was nice not only seeing and hearing from some folks we haven't heard from since our last radio auction. Today they are coming into the KSEN office in droves to pick up their merchandise and/or certificates. It's always good to "kick back" on Friday nights and over the weekend to digest all the fun and activity that took place over a two day period.
