HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Gov. Steve Bullock has released 10 years of federal tax returns, partly to draw distinctions between himself and his Republican opponent, Greg Gianforte, in his bid for re-election.

From 2005 to 2014, the governor and his wife reported $1.6 million in income, including $157,202 for 2014.

Bullock's release of his own returns was meant to generate more scrutiny on Gianforte's wealth and charitable donations to religious groups.

Bullock's campaign said the governor donated nearly $66,000 to charities over 10 years.

In January, Gianforte released 10 years of federal tax records that showed income of $220.5 million. Gianforte had reported donating more than $56 million to charities, although his campaign has said the actual amount donated over that period was twice the reported amount.

Neither candidate has released returns for 2015.
