Great Falls next hunter education course is set and registration is online.

Classes start Sept. 12, but registration begins July 1 and runs through Sept. 7. Everyone must register online, though there will be a two-day opportunity at Fish, Wildlife and Parks, 4600 Giant Springs Road, for those without access to a computer.

To register go to the FWP website at and click on the For Educators & Students link. Go to Hunter Education Course Schedule and View Course Schedule. Next head to Sept. 12, and find the 10 classrooms at East Middle School.

Classes will run 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sept. 12, 14, 15, 19, 21, and 22, at East Middle School, 4040 Central Ave. A field day test will take place Sept. 24.

When registering online students will have to select a four-hour time slot for field day, either 8 a.m. to noon or 1-5 p.m. For the morning time slot register in classrooms H1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. For the afternoon time slot register in classrooms H10, 12, 13, 15 or 17.

Registration will also occur at FWP, 7-9 p.m., Sept. 7, or 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 8.

After registering and downloading the attached files, students must pick up a course manual at one of the following locations: Big R, 4800 10 Ave. S.; Scheel’s in Holiday Village; Big Bear, 121 Northwest Bypass; or FWP.

Failure to pick up a manual before class could result in the student not being allowed into the course.

By state law, everyone born after Jan. 1, 1985, must complete a hunter education course before they can hunt. A child must be at least 11 years old to take the class.
