My blog today takes on bit of a personal note.  Today is my Grandmothers 96th Birthday.  She's a really great lady and lives at the nursing home at Choteau.

We're gearing up for our big Agriculture Appreciation features on ksenam.com, so I thought it would be fitting to tell a bit of the story about my own grandmother who is part of an agriculture family that has been in Toole County for a good, long time.

My Great-Grandmother, Dell T. Hales-Scalese, came to the Sweet Grass Hills from South Dakota a little over 100 years ago.  She was a single lady and a school teacher who came to prove up on her homestead at the base of Middle Butte.  The stories of her adventures are hair-raising.

My family still owns that land and the home that my Great-Grandmother lived in.  She met and married her husband after she was a pioneer in Montana, and raised three children on that homestead.  One of those children is my Grandmother, Teresa Ward.

I'll have a more detailed account featuring the Scaleses during Agriculture Appreciation Month at KSEN, but for today....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA - I love you!
