The Puffman Show is getting ready to "salute Oscar" this Friday afternoon. I'll be talking with the great-granddaughter of HJ Whitley. She's Gaelyn Whitley Keith and she's written "The Father Of Hollywood". It's her first book and I'll be giving away a copy of the book following Friday's interview. It was old HJ's vision and ingenuity that transformed 480 arable acres into the most celebrated city in the world. Me? I'm trying to figure out what the word "arable" actually means! At least they can't give me the death penalty for mispronouncing words...speaking of which...

Senate Bill 185 is now in the Montana legislature and I'm for it. (How's this for a smooth blog segue?) Senate Bill 185 would abolish our Montana death peanlty and replace it with a sentence of life without the possibility of parole. Monday at 4:30, I'll be talking with the sponsor of the bill, Senator Dave Wanzenried. I have believed for a long time that there is no place in civilized society for the death penalty. Besides the death penalty being more expensive to taxpayers than keeping a man in the slammer for the rest of his life, states that have no death penalty on the books, have a lower rate of murder. Try and explain that!  It always confuses me that so many folks that are "pro life" are in favor of the death penalty. A life is a life no matter whether it's the state taking it or an individual. We'll see what Senator Dave Wanzenried has to say Monday afternoon.

I've got more interesting guests to share with you and I'll be "blogging" more about them next time. Have a good weekend.
