Tall Todd the custom harvester guy says that he is 1 field short of finishing in Clinton, Oklahoma. That field is still muddy, but should be dried out enough today as the forecast there is for 95 degrees & 15 to 30 mph south winds! The crop ran from 25 to 30 bushels to the acre with test weights between 57 & 58 pounds, except for 1 load that only weighed 47.9 pounds to the bushel. The lankyl custom harvester says there was no explanation for that, except that it was light test weight. Their next move is to Perryton, Texas, which is located on the Texas/Oklahoma border along the panhandle of Oklahoma. Todd says that cutters are still harvesting in southern Texas & some of the crops will take at least 2 weeks before the ground dries out. Todd says it is odd, but there are no other harvesters around, but plenty of crop left to cut. he doesn't know whether they are all moved north already or are held up because of the rains in the south. The moisture has left a mess of ruts in the fields that have been harvested & the farmesr will have that issue to contend with as the harvesters move north into Kansas. After Perryton, they will move to Leoti, Kansas, which is in the west-central part of the state. Todd hasn't heard from the infamous Linnenberg's down in the Denver area & is curious how the crops & the moisture situation is there. It won't be long now before Todd & his crew are back up here in our Golden Triangle.
