LOCAL SPORTS – “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK” Nov. 25th, 2015

(FAIRFIELD) – OUR KSEN/K96 – BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETE OF THE WEEK MUST COME

FROM THE FAIRFIELD EAGLES WHO WERE THE ONLY TEAM LEFT STANDING AFTER THE STATE B CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL GAME LAST SATURDAY, BUT WHO AFTER A SECOND HALF THAT COACH LES MEYER SAID MAY HAVE BEEN OUR BEST HALF OF FOOTBALL ALL SEASON LONG.

WE GIVE THE NOD TO THE PLAYER WE’RE TOLD DID ALL THE TALKING AND MOTIVATING OF HIS TEAM IN THE HALF TIME LOCKER ROOM…….SR. CENTER AND DEFENSIVE LINEMAN JOEL BECK.    BECK HAS BEEN DOMINANT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL ALL SEASON LONG.   IN MANY CASES IT WAS BECK WHO GOT THINGS STARTED FOR A FAIRFIELD OFFENSE THAT ENDED UP WITH 359 YARDS ON THE GROUND.     COACH MEYER SAYS A LOT OF THOSE YARDS WERE GAINED RIGHT UP THE MIDDLE BEHIND JOEL BECK.

ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BALL BECK AND DAWSON PETERMAN WERE THE EAGLES LEADING TACKLERS ON A DEFENSE THAT KEPT A VERY GOOD HUNTLY PROJECT RUNNING TEAM ALMOST AT BAY FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE GAME.   BY THE NUMBERS, BECK WAS IN ON 15 TACKLES AND CAUSED ONE FUMBLE IN THE SECOND HALF.    COACH MEYER NOTES THAT BECK HAS BEEN THE EAGLES LEADING TACKLER ALL SEASON LONG AND THAT’S USUALLY AN HONOR THAT GOES TO LINEBACKERS.

AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE SEASON, BECK WAS NAMED THE 1B’S 1ST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE CENTER AND A 1ST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE LINEMAN.   HE WAS ALSO A UNANIMOUS ALL-STATE CHOICE AND THE DISTRICT’S TOP VOTE GETTER IN THAT ALL-STATE VOTING.

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO A GREAT H.S. FOOTBALL TEAM THE FAIRFIELD EAGLES AND THEIR COACHES.    AND CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR KSEN/K96 – BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETE OF THE WEEK, SR. JOEL BECK OF THE FAIRFIELD EAGLES.   THE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK IS SPONSORED LOCALLY BY McDONALD’S IN CUT BANK.   MCDONALD’S HONORS OUR ATHLETE’S OF THE WEEK WITH TWO FREE VALUE MEALS.
