(UNDATED) – KSEN/K96—BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETE’S OF THE WEEK, IN ONE CASE HELPED HER TEAM TO THEIR 1ST WIN OF THE SEASON AND IN THE OTHER CASE, TWO STRAIGHT VICTORIES TO OPEN THE SEASON.

OUR BOYS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK IS JUST A SOPHOMORE BUT HAD ALREADY MADE A GREAT FIRST IMPRESSION AS A FRESHMAN.  SOPHOMORE KEELY BAKE OF FAIRFIELD OPENED THE SEASON WITH SOME EYE-OPENING NUMBERS SCORING AND WITH SOME NUMBERS THAT NOT EVERYBODY SAW, ESPECIALLY THE 7 ASSISTS AND 3 STEALS IN A FAIRFIELD WIN BY 3 OVER THREE FORKS.

FIRST YEAR HEAD COACH JORDAN RATLIFF SAYS THOSE ASSISTS "WERE A BIG FACTOR IN A WIN AGAINST A QUALITY TEAM ON THEIR HOME COURT."  HE ALSO NOTED THAT KEELY, UP TO NOW, HAS BEEN A FACILITATOR, BUT NEEDS TO CONTINUE TO DEVELOP AS A SCORER.   AND HE DIDN’T GET OFF TO A BAD START THERE EITHER WITH 21 POINTS OVER BOULDER THE FIRST DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT AND THEN 13 AGAINST THREE FORKS.

BAKE IS EXTREMELY QUICK AND ATHLETIC, THE SON OF FORMER CHOTEAU STAR JASON BAKE AND FAIRFIELD VB COACH COURTNEY BAKE.

OUR FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK ALSO HAS BASKETBALL BLOOD LINES, THE DAUGHTER OF LONGTIME BIG SANDY COACH ROY LACKNER.   JR. GUARD /FORWARD TEIA LACKNER DEFINITELY SPARKED THE VALIER LADY PANTHERS TO THEIR FIRST VICTORY OF THE YEAR WITH 21 POINTS AGAINST TWO EAGLE RIVER.   LACKNER WAS THE PANTHERS LEADING SCORER IN NEARLY EVERY GAME LAST YEAR AND IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THAT TREND THIS SEASON WITH HELP FROM MORE EXPERIENCE ALL AROUND HER.

1ST YEAR HEAD COACH MICHELLE BECK, ALSO A DAUGHTER OF ROY LACKNER SAYS TEIA "IS SOLID ALL-AROUND ON DEFENSE AND CAN PLAY INSIDE AND OUT ON THE OFFENSE."

ALSO NOMINATED THIS WEEK WAS FRESHMAN SKYLAR CONNELLY OF VALIER WHO CAME OFF THE BENCH IN VALIER’S LOSS TO ST. IGNATIUS AND SCORED 14 POINTS.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR KSEN/K96—BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETE’S OF THE WEEK.  SOPHOMORE KEELY BAKE OF FAIRFIELD AND JR. TEIA LACKNER OF VALIER.  THE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK IS SPONSORED LOCALLY BY McDONALD’S IN CUT BANK.   McDONALD’S HONORS OUR ATHLETE’S OF THE WEEK WITH TWO FREE VALUE MEALS EACH.
