Besides getting the "story-behind-the-story" this afternoon (Tuesday) on the new Ripley's book, I'll be reading another cool book tonight up at the Marias Heritage Center during Montana History. We're all enjoying "Empty Mansions; The Mysterious Life of Huguette Clark and the Spending of a Great American Fortune" by Bill Dedman & Paul Clark Newell, Jr. Tuesday nights at the Heritage. This book has it all(!)...politics, history, corruption, money,Montana history...& that only's in the 1st 2 or 3 pages! This Ballantine Books Hardcover is, in my opinion, the finest book we've read in the past 5 or 6 years at the Heritage Center. It's all here...empty mansions, a $60 million dollar nurse, a boyfriend, Bellosguardo, Le Beau Chatau, Huguette's apartments, Huguette's paintings, dolls, a husband, generosity, extravagance, a nonprofit shakedown, & even a neurologist thrown in for good measure. Looking forward to reading more Montana History at 6 o'clock SHARP tonight at the Marias Heritage Center here in Shelby.
