Athlete of the Week
KSEN/K96- Bozeman Trophy Athlete's of the Week overcame some extremely fought competition on the wrestling mats and continued to make big contributions to her team on the basketball floor. Male Athlete of the Week honors go to Conrad So. Blaine VanDyke, the champion in the 126-lb. weight class at the Choteau Classic last weekend. Frigid weather caused the Tournament to be scaled back to one-day and fewer teams, but despite that Conrad Coach Luke Schlosser said that he felt that the 126-lb. bracket was "super tough," in fact in his opinion maybe the toughest in the tournament. VanDyke picked up a win in the championship with an overtime takedown over the #1 ranked wrestler in the state, in that class, Asher Clayton of Choteau. Schlosser said, "i just thought he wrestled very well," and when asked what was most impressive, he told us, "I just think Blaine is starting to really believe in himself, setting the tempo, looking for offense and not waiting around." The Conrad boys and girls also won team championships. We also had a nomination for Shelby Sr. Hayden Schilling who had his best scoring game of the year with 23, including three, 3-pointers.
Our Female Athlete of the Week has been a huge contributor to the Shelby girl's teams' success all season. Forward Adele Lamb led the Lady Coyotes in scoring in both of their games in the past week. Lamb led the way in the Saturday matchup against Fairfield with 13 points and then came back to lead the way with 12 against Cut Bank. There were no other stats available but the hard work by Lamb and her continual scoring numbers, are a big factor in Shelby's success.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, So. Blaine VanDyke of Conrad and Jr. Adele Lamb of Shelby. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our athlete's with two free value meals each.
