Athlete of the Week
KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the week have now won this award a combined total of 7 times in the past two years, so should we say pretty consistent in their performances on the field and the court.
Female Athlete of the Week honors go to Shelby Jr. setter Addison Richman. Addison gets her hands on the ball nearly every play and is very consistent in getting it to the right spot to give the hitters a shot at putting it away. In a key Shelby Conference win over Choteau last week and then played in a tournament at Boulder, she had an amazing 88 assists, 33 against Choteau. Coyotes Coach Lexy Fisher says she also comes up big on the defense with 16 digs against Choteau and 22 in the tournament. Fisher says Addison is not only a team leader but very instrumental on the defensive side of the net. Shelby upped their conference record to 5-2 with the win against Choteau and are now in 2nd place in a tough conference.
Our Male Athlete is an All-State player and a finalist for our Athlete of the Year in 2023-24. Sr. Running Back Nate Nelson of the CJI Hawks had a break-out game last weekend as #4 CJI blew out #8 Power/Dutton/Brady 53-6. Nelson got the show underway, running 52 yards on the 1st play of the game from scrimmage and it continued on from there. Once all was said and done, he racked up 247 total yards and 6 Touchdowns. He also threw the ball for 2 extra points and on defense led all tacklers with 9 solo stops and 2 pass deflections. Hawks Head Coach Jim Vinson said simply, "He had an amazing game."
