WalletHub’s Driving Rankings Reveal the Truth
WalletHub recently crunched the numbers again and ranked the best and worst states to drive in.
And no, this is not about scenic beauty. If it were, Going-to-the-Sun-Road would probably carry us straight into the top three.
This ranking looks at the practical stuff. Things like Traffic & Infrastructure, Cost of Ownership & Maintenance, Access to Vehicles & Maintenance, and finally Safety.
Montana Excels In Traffic And Infrastructure
Before we get to the not so great news, let’s start with the one bright spot. Montana actually ranks really well in traffic and infrastructure, coming in at number 3.
Thanks to our smaller population, we deal with fewer traffic jams than most states. That part should not surprise anyone who enjoys wide open highways.
Now for the tough part.
When it comes to cost of ownership and maintenance, Montana ranks near the bottom at number 47. That means owning and maintaining a vehicle here is more expensive compared to most of the country.
For access to vehicles and maintenance options, we land at number 42. Not great.
And then there is safety. Montana comes in at number 48.
So while we might not score very high in the overall driving rankings, we can all agree on one thing. When it comes to jaw dropping views and taking an unforgettable road trip, Montana is tough to beat.
