It was another big week for nominations for our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week with Divisional Wrestling and the Basketball Season winding down the regular season!
Our Female Athlete of the Week received several quality nominations.   CJI junior Kyra Anderson is having one heck of a Wrestling Season, and she really topped it off at the Eastern Divisional last Weekend.  Kyra claimed her landmark 100th career win by taking the Divisional Championship at 110-pounds. She wasted no time in the Championship match, pinning her opponent in 1-min and 15-seconds and for the third time in her career placing in the top 3 in the Divisional Tournament and helped her Hawks team place 3rd in the Tournament.    Kyra has now qualified for State for the 4th time and will enter the Tournament with a 30-6 record and ranked at #4 in the State.
We also had a nomination for Shelby senior Addison Richman who celebrated Sr. night in Shelby Saturday and started off as if she owned the courts, hitting two very quick 3's.   She ended with 10 that night in a runaway win over Conrad.  Addison had 22 the night before with 6-3's in a big win over Choteau. And a final nomination for Choteau's Madisyn Duffner, a Choteau Wrestler who defeated the top ranked Wrestler in the Western B-C Divisional and now has the #1 seed heading into the Weekend's State Tournament.
Our Male Athlete of the Week had a couple of really big nights, especially against the second-best team in the 1B District.  Fairfield senior Deron Lear poured in 30 points against Fort Benton and made sure the Eagles stayed undefeated and on top of the 1B standings.  Deron also had a big night against Rocky Boy with 29 points and in the two games hit 19 of 22 free throws. He added 8 rebounds in the two games and Fairfield improved to 12-0 in conference play.
We also had an excellent nomination for Choteau junior Rusch Yeager who had two big nights, first with 24 points against Chinook and we're told a "killer dunk."  Rusch scored 21 against Shelby and had 28 rebounds in the two games with 4 blocks.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, CJI Jr. Kyra Anderson and Fairfield Sr. Deron Lear. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank.
