KSEN/K96 Athletes of the Week
Our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week had to be feeling pretty good about their performances last weekend, especially after getting to perform in some decent weather.
Female Athlete of the Week honors go to Sophomore runner Natalie Hodgskiss who apparently enjoyed the comfort of her home turf at the Choteau Acantha Invitational. Natalie pulled off the rare triple win in the 400m - 1:02.7, the 800m - 2:27.7, and the 1600m - 5:31.03. The three races are grueling enough on their own, but to compete and win all three in a single day is a true test of stamina. Natalie was a state qualifier in all 3 events last year as a fr. and finished 2nd in the 800m and is the defending State Champion for Class B in the 1600m.
Our Male Athlete of the Week was also a state contender in his freshman year and is coming on strong once again in his choice events. Sophomore Dane Grammar of the CJI Hawks was among the 1st qualifiers for State with a Discus throw of 145'1" at the Cal Wearley meet where he finished 1st. He finished 2nd in the State meet in that event last year. Dane also had his best Shot Put throw at that meet with a 43'5" and placed 2nd and set a school record. In a meet at Baker last weekend, he finished 2nd in the discus and took a 1st place in the Shot Put with a personal best of 45'5", breaking the school record for the 2nd week in a row. We also had a nomination this week for Rusch Yeager, a sophomore from Choteau who set a school record in the High Jump with a leap of 6'4, breaking the record set by Chuck Yound in 1973.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Sophomore Natalie Hodgskiss of Choteau and Sophomore Dane Grammar of CJI. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our Athlete's with two free value meals each.
