KSEN/K96 Athletes of the Week

Our KSEN/K96 -- Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week were on a scoring high over the weekend. Just past the midway point of the Basketball season, top players are tuning up their skills, and we had strong nominations for 3 male athlete's and 2 female athletes.

      Our Male Athlete has been nominated several times this season but his shooting performance this past weekend took the cake.   Sophomore Nick Bucklin came out in the 1st half of the Valier matchup and went on a 3-point frenzy.  He had 7 of those in the first half and then two more in limited playing time, due to the score, in the 2nd half.  Head Coach Nate Aschim, quoted in the local paper said, "Nick sees a couple going in and he can really get hot."  He also noticed it was nice to see his teammates finding him, so he could get the shots."

      We also had a nomination for Dane Grammar, CJI who had a dominating game against Shelby with 28, 8-9 at the free throw line, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.  Travis Cartwright of Fairfield not noticed for his play against Choteau with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 deflections.

      Our Female Athlete of the Week, and I guess you could say we've been waiting for this.  CJI junior an all-state player from a year ago, Brynn Kammerzell, averaged 30 points a game in 3 games last week.   32 vs. Fort Benton, 30 against Shelby and 32 against Power/Dutton/Brady.  Brynn recorded double-doubles in the Fort Benton and Shelby games with 14 and 12 respectively. Kammerzell was very efficient with a 68-percent combined field goal percentage and a perfect 12-12 from the free throw line.

      We also had a nomination for Shelby Fr. Rowen Russell who had 20-points on 6-3's in the Rocky Boy gym Saturday.

      Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, So. Nick Bucklin of Sunburst and Jr. Brynn Kammerzell of CJI.  The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our Athlete's with two free value meals each.
