KSEN/K96 Athletes of the Week
Local Athlete's truly out-did themselves this past week in High School Sports and we had 6 nominations for our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week.
Five of those nominations were for the girls and so difficult to make a choice between two of them that we are awarding a rare Co-Athlete of the Week to Conrad Sr. Ava Krings and Shelby Jr. Reagan Torgerson.
Ava participates in 5 events for the Cowgirls, but her specialty is undoubtedly the Pole Vault, where she cleared 12-feet at the Golden Eagle Invitational in Lewistown. She is only the 2nd Class B girl in history to clear that height. The leap also broke the Conrad H.S. record set by Breaunna Erickson just a couple of years ago. Ava's nominator told us, "Beyond the measurable success, Ava continues to demonstrate leadership, perseverance and a strong work ethic"
Our other Co-Athlete of the Week is Shelby Jr. Reagan Torgerson who is an exceptional sprinter. At the Choteau Acantha meet last Saturday, Reagan picked up 1st place wins in the 100m, 200m and the 400m. With those wins, she auto qualified for all 3 at the State Meet in May. Reagan is also owner of the best time all-class, in the State with the 400m at 58.63.
Our other nominees were fantastic! Shelby Fr. Rowen Russell who won the Wolf Point golf Tournament with a 51 on the front nine, she took 11 strokes off in the back and won the Tournament with a 91. She also won the 5 team Touurnament at Marias Valley Tuesday night with a 41. Brooke Streit, a Fr. from CJI who had a 2nd place finish in the 800m at the Acantha meet, recorded the current top-ranked Class C time in State and broke a 20-year-old CJI record. And Kodee Stiner, of the Cut Bank/Shelby Softball team who went 3-4 with a solo Home Run and got the win over Hardin on the mound.
And finally, our Male Athlete of the Week, Conrad Jr. Ledger Martin who won the 100m at the Choteau Acantha meet and also won the 800m with a State qualifying time, in the very first time he ever ran the 800m in a meet. At the Choteau twilight meet, Ledger picked up wins in the 200m and 400m and anchored the winning Conrad 400m relay team We're told that Ledger is toning down the number of events he enters due to some knee issues, but he's still running fast.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96-Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week, Sr. Ava Krings of Conrad, Jr. Reagan Torgerson of Shelby and Jr. Ledger Martin of Conrad. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our Athlete's with two free value meals each.
