KSEN/K96 Athletes of the Week
Our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athlete's of the Week both come out of the week's Track & Field competition and we have a back-to-back winner.
Our Male Athlete of the Week has been a solid performer for Fairfield in both Football and Basketball, and now is making headlines on the Track. Eagles Jr. Saber Allen placed high in 5 events and led Fairfield to a team Championship at the competitive Cal Wearley meet in Havre last weekend. Allen pulled out wins in both the 110m and the 300m hurdles. From the Track to the Field then he had a 6th place finish in the discus, and eight points for a 2nd place finish in the Javelin with a throw of 161-feet, a personal best. Saber also ran with teammates in what they called the "spring medley relay" which is unlike most relays where each member runs a different distance, (200-200-400-800). I'm not sure what the status of that event is in High School Track but they ran it in Havre, and Fairfield won it, with Allen, Brodie Carper, Colter Kline, and Ashyr Tweet.
We also had a highly regarded nomination for CJI Jr. Dane Grammar who is the defending State Champion in the Shot Put and the Discus and holds school records in both events. Dane won both of those events in Havre last weekend, breaking his personal best and the long standing school record in the Shot Put with a toss of 51-feet, 3.5 inches.
Our Female Athlete of the Week gets back-to-back wins with her performance at the Cal Wearley meet. Cut Bank Sr. Jaycee Luse, was once again the winningest performer from the area with her 2nd win in a row in the 100m hurdles, a personal best of 17.27. She had a 3rd in the 300m hurdles against tough competition, but she pulled out a win in the triple jump this week at 32-feet, 4.5" and she added a 4th in the Long Jump. Jaycee also combined with teammates, Ella Overstreet, Macee Wetzel and Stella Wahl to win that 1600m sprint medley relay.
Congratulations to our KSEN/K96--Bozeman Trophy Athlete's of the Week, Jr. Saber Allen of Fairfield and Sr. Jaycee Luse of Cut Bank. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our Athlete's with two free value meals each.
