It's Tuesday, and I'm looking forward to going up to the Marias Heritage Center this evening when I'm done on the Puffman Show. It's "Montana History" at six tonight and I'm reading a really cool book to the residents. I began this book several weeks back and Marie Ostrem was kind enough to fill in for me last week when I was in Minnesota. The book we're reading was written by Ed Kemmick of Billings. Easy Ed's the columnist for the City Lights column in the Billings Gazette and the book is full of "CHARACTERS." It's entitle "The Big Sky, By and By-True Tales, Real People and Strange Times in the Heart of Montana." Writer Kemmick's tome is a wonderful blend of humor and insight, exploring the idiosyncrasies of human nature with his own unique worldview" according to New West Magazine. And take it from me, the few chapters that I've read thus far are fascinating. Ed has searched out people like Evel Knievel (who I think was a first class jerk) to the Petrified Man with even a stop at the Montana Bar down in Miles City. These are real people with real stories and I don't want to tell you much more or I might spoil it for those who haven't had a chance to read through it. I highly recommend this book and look forward to delving into more of the same this evening at the Heritage. The way I'm feeling these days, I'm about to ask Judy for a room up there myself(!). It looks like a pretty good deal, they'll give me three squares a day, bring me my pills, and there's a wide screen TV to boot! The only problem I can see is, if I'm around there all the time, the residents might not appreciate me as much as they do now. A little bit of the Puffman goes a long ways. I'll see you this evening for Montana History at the Heritage.
