Our KSEN/K96 Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week just keeps on setting new standards for everyone else to chase and our female Athlete of the Week is described as a consistent leader on one of the best girls' track teams in the state.

For the second time this season, our male athlete is Fairfield senior Cantor Coverdell who has set the bar even higher in his top-ranked triple jump. At the Gallatin Valley invitational last Saturday, Cantor set a new state best with a leap of 44' 9.3", almost a foot better than his previous best, which was also the best in the state. But that's not all, he captured the long jump with his best effort of the year at 21' 9" and that's the second best jump in the state right now. Add to that wins in the discus, the javelin and a being a member of the winning Fairfield 400M relay team. Fairfield also won the team title, outscoring 15 other teams. All-in-all, not a bad day.

Our female athlete of the week again comes from Choteau where the Lady Bulldogs continue to pile up team championships everywhere they go. The Lady Dawgs were best among 12 teams and, while a lot of points came from their usual running events, senior, Katie Kostelnik contributed a significant number in the field events...namely shot put and javelin. Katie won the shot put with her personal best throw of 29' 10". She also won the javelin, tossing the stick over 91 feet. That was not her best throw of the year and she is capable of much more, with the fourth best class B throw in the state right now at 119'.

Also nominated this week was senior, Taner Stone of Choteau who won three events at the Choteau open, the high jump, the long jump and the 300M hurdles.

Congratulations to our KSEN/K96 - Bozeman Trophy Athletes of the Week; senior Cantor Coverdell of Fairfield and senior Katie Kostelnik of Choteau. The Athlete of the Week is sponsored locally by McDonald's in Cut Bank. McDonald's honors our athletes with two free value meals each.

And we encourage fans, coaches, teammates and parents to nominate athletes of the week. If you think they've had an exceptional performance email me at mark.daniels@townsquaremedia.com.
