(UNDATED) – OUR KSEN/K96 – BOZEMAN TROPHY ATHLETES OF THE WEEK THIS WEEK PROVE THAT YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE BIG TO MAKE A BIG IMPACT. BOTH ARE SMALL IN BODY FRAME BUT BIG PERFORMERS IN THEIR INDIVIDUAL SPORT.
KSEN names Athletes of the Week from first round of Playoffs
KSEN/K96 FM - Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week choices were gut wrenching this week as a number of local athletes turned in big performances.
Athletes of the Week – Colin Allen of Fairfield and Stephanie BullChild of Valier
This week's athletes are a well know athlete from Fairfield and a young athlete from Valier who's just getting started:
Senior Wide Receiver, Colin Allen of Fairfield is a big play maker for the Eagles. In their win over Cut Bank in the final week of the regular season Allen scored two touchdowns (about his average) and caught a BIG 74 Yard pass for a score in the game. Allen is also the extra point man for the Eagles and he got three of those. He finished the game with five catches for 180 yards.
Our female athlete of the week this week is Sophomore Hitter Stephanie BullChild of Valier. Bullchild is described by her coach as "hardworking and extremely coachable". Stephanie is a real force in the front row.
Athlete of the Week is back…
I have been a little remiss in getting the Athlete of the Week posted to our website this year, but I'm going to do better! I'm starting out by catching you up (Hey - I'm only a "few" weeks behind).
If you click on Events (top menu) then Athlete of the week - you can read about our athletes and listen to the show.
The Athlete of the Week is brought to you by KSEN and Bozeman Trophy and sponsored locally by McDonalds. McDonalds generously donates two value meals for each of our Athletes - next time you have a Big Mac Attack, you might want to say thanks to them.
Athletes of the Week – Brannon Dodson of Cut Bank and Kelci May of Choteau
The athletes of the week this week are very similar to last week, only it's a Cut Bank Football player and a Choteau Volleyball player. Both played big roles in key conference
The Wolves needed a win in Conrad to keep their playoff hopes alive and a great running game from Junior Brannon Dodson was just what they needed to get that win. Dodson rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns with one of the touchdowns coming on a great catch and score from 56 yards away. With a second down and long on their own 44 yard line, Dodson delivered. The very quick and shifty running back also kicks extra points for the Wolves. several 100 yard games and 7 touchdowns on the season.
Senior super-setter Kelci May had another great weekend for the undefeated Choteau Lady Bulldogs. In the 3/1 win over Cut Bank, May had 33 of the teams 37 assists, two aces and 19 digs. In the Conrad match-up 31 assists and three aces.
Athletes of the Week – Jordyn Vaile and Henry Jordan
Choteau Senior Full Back and Defensive End Henry Jordan. He's tough to stop up the middle and was instrumental in Choteau's win over Cut Bank with 17 carries for 76 yards, three big knock-down blocks and four solo tackles.
Senior Jordyn Vaile of the Cut Bank Wolves had ten blocks and 23 kills over two matches this week. In what has been described as her best match of the year she had 11 kills and six blocks in a 3/0 win over Conrad. Jordyn is an all conference selection from a year ago and all state in track and field.
Athlete of the Week – Trace Brady – Senior Quarterback
Considering Trace wasn't a starter for the Eagles until his senior year, he's done amazingly well as the starting quarterback for Fairfield. Brady had been concentrating on catching passes from Patterson the last two years. He has thrown for more than two touchdowns a game and big yardage in some, Brady was especially tough in their toughest game against highly-ranked Manhattan, throwing for 274 yards and three touchdowns. Long-term Fairfield Coach Les Meyer also mentioned that Trace is on of the top three tacklers for the Eagles from his outside linebacking position.
Athlete of the Week Ashton Smith Browning Lady Indians Golf
This week, the Athlete of the Week goes to a Browning golfer who might be getting used to winning! She’s been doing a lot of it lately. Senior Ashton Smith – tied for the Central Divisional championship and finished in the top 30 of the state last year. Ashton shot a 91 to win the Libby Invitational – she has also captured wins in mid-August in Havre and on her home course on September 3rd with an 87. She’s got to be a favorite in the Central A Divisional Golf tournament in East Glacier.
