Deni Fitzpatrick has long been a fixture on KSEN and K96 Athlete of the Week, this week I see she is being honored in the Great Falls Tribune as well. Deni recently finished a stellar High School Track Career at Cut Bank High School with 14 state gold medals - 10 individual and 4 relay. According to the story in the Tribune:
It was a heart breaker at the State B Track Meet over the weekend in Butte. Despite an awesome effort by the Lady Wolves, Glasgow came up 6 points ahead of them with a 2nd place finish in the 1600 Meter Relay (The last event of the meet)
The State B/C Softball tournament will get underway in Great Falls (this is a new announcement) on Thursday morning at 9am when Glasgow meets the co-op of Plains/Hot Springs and continue throughout the day ending with the Columbus/Absarokee/Park City -v- Loyola Sacred Heart game slotted for 3pm
All the schedules are set and local track teams will travel to Butte this week to compete in the final track meet of the 2011 season. KSEN will be there and bring you the latest results!

University of Great Falls women's basketball coach Bill Himmelberg has announced the signing of two guards from Cut Bank.
Taylor Harvie and Brady Gray plan to join the Lady Argos for the 2011-12 season
Malta was the first place boys team in cold, windy, rainy Glasgow on Saturday at the Divisional Track Meet. 1st Place finishers from North Central Montana included; Weston Allen, Fairfield in the High Jump at 5' 11", Bo Harris, Fairfield Discus 130' 7" and 49' 1 1/2" in the Shot Put, Chase Ballantyne of Shelby with a 20' 5" Long Jump mark, Slade Allen and Tucker Meyer went 1 and 2 in the 300 Meter Hurdles with finishing times of 42.19 and 43.34.
The top six finishers in each event will travel to Butte at the end of the week to compete in the Class B State Meet. Check out the complete results after the jump.
The Cut Bank girls and the Missoula Valley Christian boys captured the team championships of the state Class B-C high school tennis tournament, held on Friday and Saturday in Missoula
Cut Bank defeated the Superior/Alberton team with a score of 45 to 34
Deni Fitzpatrick once again led the Wolves' effort at the Divisional Track Meet. Conditions were less than ideal Saturday in Glasgow. The temperatures were warm, but the rain and wind made the job more difficult. The Cut Bank girls came up a little short of the Divisional Title, with the Scotties of Glasgow outscoring the Lady Wolves 156 to 124.
Fitzpatrick came away with first in the 100 Meter Dash, the 100 Meter Hurdles, the 200 Meter dash and the 300M Hurdles. Teammate, Erica Karcher also took first in the Long Jump, Jordyn Vaile had a first place in the Shot Put with a throw of 36' 5" the 4X100 Meter team also finished first.
Other local winners include: Alisha Breen in the Javelin with a throw of 108'0" and Sydne Steinbach of Fairfield in the triple jump with a jump of 34' 10 1/5".

It's a little early to start talking about the State Track Meet in Butte next weekend, but I can tell you that the Cut Bank girls would LOVE a repeat. The Girls Class B State Golf finished up yesterday at Pryor Creek Golf Club Johnny Walker Course (Par 73) with the Loyola Sacred Heart team as State Champions with a total combined team score of 712, followed by Red Lodge 731; Three Forks 743; Malta 777; Townsend 806; Huntley Project 809; Big Timber 814; Fairfield 877; Shepherd 886; Colstrip 898; Shelby 927; Cut Bank 943
The Boys Class B State Golf finished up yesterday at Eaglerock Golf Course in Billings (Par 72) with the Loyola Sacred Heart team as State Champions with a total combined team score of 619, followed by Columbus 638; Red Lodge 655; Colstrip 657; Manhattan Christian 661; Deer Lodge 661; Three Forks 673; Malta 679 Conrad 681; Huntley Project 704; Plentywood 719 and Fairfield at 733.
