Take My Father…PLEASE!
That's what Jacqueline Marcell says and she's my special guest this afternoon (Thursday) at 4:30 on the Puffman Show. Jacqueline is an international speaker on Eldercare/Alzheimer's and is host of her own "Coping With Caregiving radio show, and author of the best-selling book, "Elder Rage", a Book-of-the-Month Club selection. Jacqueline's been with me before and she is a great guest. Her book has received 50 some endorsements, 300 Plus 5 Star Amazon reviews and is required reading at numerous universities. It's even being considered for a film. Alzheimer's/dementia is something most of us have to face, one way or the other, whether we become "the patient" and/or "the caregiver". I've been led to believe that by the time our generation makes it to 85 years of age, more than half of us will be diagnosed with some form of Alheimer's or dementia. I recall TV host Larry King doing a special program on this dreaded disease and Larry saying, "all any of us have is our mind". I recently saw a TV feature on popular singer/entertainer Glen Campbell and yes, Campbell's been diagnosed with Alzheimer's at age 75. Many of us recall the youthful acting and appearing Ronald Reagan succumbing to this very disease. "Elder Rage" is Jacqueline's shocking true story of caring for her parents through what are supposed to be the "golden years". Jacqueline will share with us, not only her parents' story, but also pass along the 10 warning signs of Alheimer's. I don't think this afternoon's interview will be a "walk in the park" but "knowledge is power" and I think this is a subject that needs to be addressed. See you at 4:30.
